Officers were able to identify the suspect as John A Carey Jr., 26 of Dover, DE.  On 01/08/2026, officers secured an arrest warrant for Carey related to this incident.

 

On 01/09/2026, Carey was arrested and charged with:

Attempted Burglary 3^rd Degree (Felony)

Attempted Theft $1500 of Greater (Felony)

Criminal Mischief $5000 or More (Felony)

Criminal Trespass 3^rd Degree

 

Carey had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 11.  Carey was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $4050 secured bond.  He was ordered to have no contact with all Del-One Federal Credit Union locations.  He was ordered to appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Commons Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
