Three Charged Following Serious Assault

On August 17, 2022 at approximately 6:23 p.m., the Milford Police Department's Patrol Division was dispatched to the area of North St and NW 2nd St, Milford, Kent County, DE for an unconscious male subject laying in the grass.  Units responded to the area and learned that the victim was suffering from a medical emergency and had injuries consistent with being physically assaulted.  The victim was transported to Bayhealth Sussex Campus, where he is currently listed as Stable but Critical Condition.
 
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division where detectives were able to confirm that the victim had been assaulted by 3 black male suspects at approximately 6:18 p.m. on 08/17/2022.  Through investigative means, detectives were able to identify the three suspects as Isaiah Tunnell, 25 of Milford, DE; Joseph L Mumford 2nd, 18 of Milford, DE; and Demetrius Frith-Thompson, 22 of Milford, DE.  The case was presented to the Department of Justice and warrants were issued on 08/19/2022 for Tunnell, Mumford and Frith-Thompson. 
 
On 08/19/2022, Mumford was taken into custody and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree.  He had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $27,000 cash bail.  Mumford will appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
 
On 08/21/2022, Frith-Thompson was taken into custody and charged with Assault 1st Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Theft under $1500.  He had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $65,000 cash bail.  Frith-Thompson will appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
 
Also on 08/21/2022, Tunnell was taken into custody and charged with Assault 1st Degree and Conspiracy 2nd Degree.  He had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $104,000 cash bail.  Tunnell will appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
