Milford Man Arrested on Gun Charges

On 05/28/2025, Joshua Walker, 21 of Milford, DE was found to be in possession of a firearm while on Milford High School property. Officers learned that Walker arrived at the parent pick up line after school dismissal and he dropped a firearm from his person as he exited his vehicle. While attempting to put the firearm back into his waistband a student observed the firearm and immediately alerted school staff.  School staff then notified the school resource officer (SRO), S/Cpl. Golding, who quickly made contact with Walker, detained him, and removed the firearm from his person.

Through our investigation, there is no evidence that Walker intended to do any harm to any person at the school nor is there any existing threats to any of the schools within the Milford School District.

Walker was charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm in a Safe School Zone
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm
- Possession of Untraceable Firearm

Walker had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction on $45,000 cash bail.  Walker will appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.

Chief Cecilia Ashe stated, "It is important to recognize that the student, high school staff and the SRO all took quick and appropriate action.  SRO, S/Cpl. Golding, should be commended for his actions in immediately confronting the subject in the parking lot, using his training to de-escalate the situation and taking the suspect into without incident.  This is just a small example of the great training and the bravery that our officers demonstrate each and every day."
