Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrest of Virginia Man

**Update on 10/12/2022.  The victim in this case is Mauricio Hernandez-Arias, 43 years of age.**
 
On October 8th, 2022 at approximately 11:00 am, officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a residence in the 200 block of North Rehoboth Boulevard to a report of a serious assault that occurred.  Upon arrival officers contacted a 43 year old male, who was suffering from a stab wound to the chest.  Responding officers immediately began to provide life saving measures until EMS staff arrived to continue the efforts and provide transport to the Bayhealth Sussex Campus.  The male victim eventually succumbed to his injury.  Sanabra O. Garcia (A.K.A. Rodrigo Lopez-Garcia), 46 of Sterling, Virginia, was located on scene and further investigation identified him as the suspect.  Mr. Garcia was taken into custody without incident.  Mr. Garcia has been charged with Murder 1st Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.  Mr. Garcia was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $550,000.00 cash only.  Mr. Garcia is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on October 28th, 2022 for a Preliminary Hearing.
