Investigation revealed that one suspect was involved in this shooting incident.  Through further investigation, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Jashaun Johnson, 23 of Selbyville, DE.   On June 21, 2025, investigators secured an arrest warrant for Johnson related to this incident.
 
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshal’s First State Fugitive Task Force, Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT) and Smyrna Police Department, investigators were able to take Johnson into custody without incident on 07/09/2025 in Smyrna, DE.
 
Johnson has been charged with:
- ATTEMPTED Murder 1^st Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief Over $1000
 
Johnson had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Correction on $551,000 cash bail.  A no contact order was issued between Johnson and the victim.  Johnson will appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
